I performed an IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) test for a homeowner concerned about allergens in the air. Using a particle counter and VOC sensor, I measured dust, pollen, and other airborne contaminants. After reviewing the data, I recommended installing a whole-home air purifier integrated with their existing HVAC system. Additionally, I checked the humidity levels in the ductwork and suggested the addition of a humidifier for optimal indoor comfort. The homeowner is now considering these upgrades for better air quality and overall health.
Working in Fargo today, I completed an AC repair on a Carrier Infinity 16 unit. The system was not cooling due to a faulty TXV (Thermostatic Expansion Valve). Replaced the valve and recharged the system with R-410A refrigerant. After the repair, tested the unit to ensure it was operating efficiently and delivering consistent cooling throughout the home.
Completed an HVAC installation for cooling using a Lennox Elite Series XC14 air conditioner. Installed the condenser, connected the ductwork, and set up the refrigerant lines. Mounted the iComfort thermostat and calibrated it for optimal performance. Tested the system to confirm efficient operation and consistent cooling throughout the home.
Repaired an HVAC system for cooling by replacing a malfunctioning blower motor in a Rheem Prestige Series unit. The motor was causing uneven cooling in the home. Installed a new OEM blower motor and balanced the airflow. Tested the system to ensure it was distributing cool air evenly across all zones.
Sealed air ducts in a home with significant air leakage. Identified leaks in the main supply duct and sealed them using UL 181-rated mastic. Reinforced connections with new duct clamps to ensure airtight seals. After sealing, tested the system to verify improved airflow and efficiency, resulting in more consistent cooling throughout the home.
Installed a zoned AC system using a Honeywell TrueZONE panel and motorized dampers. Divided the home into three separate zones for more efficient cooling. Connected the system to a Carrier Performance 17 air conditioner and calibrated the thermostats for each zone. Tested the system to ensure each zone was cooling independently and effectively, improving overall comfort and energy efficiency.
Responded to a no cool issue with an air conditioning system. Diagnosed the problem and found that the capacitor had failed, preventing the compressor and fan from starting. Replaced the faulty capacitor with a new OEM part, checked the refrigerant levels, and inspected the condenser coils for any blockages. After completing the repairs, tested the system to ensure it was cooling effectively. The AC unit is now functioning properly and delivering consistent cooling to the home.

Tom also created estimate:We propose to install isolation ball valves on each of the line sets of a 3 head mini split system to find out which circuits are leaking refrigerant out each year. (This unit serves the hallways of all 3 floors). Line sets run in the walls and flare connections for the heads are inside the walls also. Once we know which ones are leaking we would need to quote the repairs.
